materials for the restoration of scroll paintings:

paper

silks and other fabrics

we always try to keep the often century old silks. sometimes however the condition is too bad or the selection of colours and pattern not acceptable. we in this case try to exchange the fabrics with more appropriate ones, matching the age of the painting. we do not use modern prebacked materials.
all silks are cleaned and backed with new paper to revive the silky nature of the handwoven fabrics.
